The Salvation Project is a non-profit community group set up to help people in Thornaby, and the surrounding area, who are in need.

Our support covers both regulars and reservists in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. They are all entitled to lifelong support from SSAFA, no matter how long they have served.

The Service Personnel & Veterans Agency (SPVA) became part of Veterans UK in April 2014.

The Winter Fuel Payment is a tax-free annual payment designed to help older people with their heating costs in the colder winter months. It is provided by the government to those who are eligible.
