Personal Assistant Network

Whether you receive a Self Managed Personal Budget from Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council or self fund your own care and support, employing your own Personal Assistant can increase the choice and control you have over deciding how your support needs are met.

Initially it may sound daunting for you to become an employer of a Personal Assistant but it doesn't have to be.  Throughout this section you will find links and guidance notes to explain the responsibilities you will have and the support available to help you with them.

Led by the Adult Social Care Financial Services, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council have created a register of Personal Assistants who are actively looking for care and support roles. Known as the Personal Assistant Network, all individuals who would like their details added will be offered basic training modules, and an enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) check (upon being employed).
