Involve Tees Valley - Build a Bike Project

Stockton’s shabby and unloved bikes are being repaired and put back to good use. The cycle project gives young offenders and young people, working with Involve Tees Valley, the chance to learn new skills, gain a recognised qualification and give something back to their community.
The young people work for ten hours on a voluntary basis repairing old bikes donated by Cleveland Police, recycling parts from other bikes and renewing brake and gear cables. At the same time they are working towards an accreditation opportunity which sees them complete written work to secure a certificate which they can put in their record of achievement folders to show prospective employers.
If the young people complete the course they get to keep the bike while young offenders working on a court order donate the made-over cycle to a charity or needy person from their community sessions.
