Your voice matters - Make sure you are heard - Register to vote!

We are keen to make sure that everyone entitled to vote in our borough is able to do so.

You cannot vote if you are not on the Voter (Electoral) Register.

Anyone not registered, can now register to vote online at www.gov.uk/registertovote. It only takes a couple of minutes. You will need your National Insurance number.

Young people can go on the register when they are 16 years old, but they cannot vote until they are 18.

The law requires every individual to make sure they are registered to vote.

If you move home, you must register to vote at your new address.

If you are not registered to vote, it could have a negative affect on:

> your credit rating;

> your ability to get a mortgage;

> your ability to take out a mobile phone contract; and

> your ability to obtain other forms of credit, such as hire purchase for vehicles, furniture etc.

So don't lose your right to vote and make sure you are registered to vote at your current address.

Contact our Voter Registration Helpline if you need more information, or send them an email.
