Independent Age - Advice & Support Service
Independent Age is a unique charity, providing lifelong support to older people on very low incomes. They provide information and advice, practical help and emergency financial aid through a network of staff and dedicated volunteers across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
They also offer friendship and the chance to socialise to those who are lonely and isolated. Supported by Independent Age, thousands of older people are able to maintain their independence, contribute to their communities and enjoy a good quality of life, secure in the knowledge that help lasts as long as they need it.
Independent Age focus on supporting those who are over 70, are in financial need, are lonely or isolated and can most benefit from long-term support. They make sure that all those they help are receiving their entitlements from statutory and other providers and then provide additional support tailored to the individual's particular needs.
This support can include, regular befriending and support from an Independent Age volunteer visitor, the opportunity to meet and correspond with other members of the Independent Age community, financial help in emergencies, additional practical support such as mobility aids and big-button telephones, membership of the Independent Age community, including regular correspondence, magazines, and cards on birthdays and at Christmas.
