Supported Lodgings Accommodation

Accommodation and support is provided within a family's own home for young people aged 16 to 25 who have left care, are in care or are homeless. In order to be eligible young people must be in education, training or employment.

Description

Accommodation is provided for the young person in the providers own home. Some providers can offer more than one placement at any one time. A young person can expect to have their won room and access to other facilities within the house inlcuding the kitchen. Meals are provided however the young person is expected to contribute to cooking and cleaning tasks in order that independent living skills are developed.

There are a limited number of providers who will offer a placement to a young person and their child.

The provider offers oversight, emotional warmth and stability. The provider works closely with the young people and their social worker or personal advisor in order to support the young person to develop their life skills in an effort that young people are able to go on to less supported accomodation or to live independently with or without ongoing floating support.
