The Halcyon Centre
The Halcyon Centre is a day service for adults and older people, including those living with Dementia, managed by Stockton Borough Council.
The staff Team adopts a needs-led approach and through promoting a spirit of self-help, seeks to provide opportunities to empower and enable people to achieve their full potential in a safe, clean and comfortable environment. We provide a range of activities that aim to enrich our client’s quality of life in a stimulating, supportive and friendly environment. We have links with both statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure we are able to offer an integrated package of care for all clients which also supports and maintains the wellbeing of carers, enabling them to continue in their role.
The Kitwood Unit operates within the Halcyon Centre and has its own specialist staff team, their role is to support clients more severely affected by dementia type illnesses to engage in activities within the mainstream centre, or within their own group. Our committed, experienced team have a broad knowledge base and support our clients in daily living skills and to achieve their goals and aspirations whilst maintaining and promoting independence wherever possible.
The Halcyon centre can accommodate up to 105 clients a day and is equipped with 9 spacious activity rooms as well as a large dining room and kitchen which provides a hot, two course meal which is prepared on site each day. We also have accessible, spacious grounds that include a sensory garden, wildlife garden and an allotment area.
