The Children's Society is a leading national charity, driven by the belief that every child deserves a good childhood. It provides vital help and understanding for those forgotten children who face the greatest danger, discrimination or disadvantage in their daily lives; children who are unable to find the support they need anywhere else.
To maximise effectiveness, resources are targeted on four priority areas of work:
- Children in trouble with the law
- Children at risk on the streets
- Disabled children
- Young refugees
Work in these important areas form the core of the work and alongside these, other areas of work are supported such as projects with traveller and gypsy children, and with children and young people that are affected by adult drug alcohol misuse.
The Children's Society's work is based in a substantial practice base, a robust research programme, dedicated social policy work and nationwide campaigning.
The Children's Society is only able to continue its work through the generous donations of its supporters and volunteers.
Through working with children and involving them in their work, The Children's Society has built up considerable experience and knowledge. They are able to work with front-line partners to provide services, including training and consultancy, which offer local solutions for local needs.
