The Care Act 2014

From April 2015, care and support in England is changing for the better.  The new Care Act introduces major reforms to the legal framework for Adult Social Care: to the duties of local authorities; to the rights of those in need of care and support and their carers; and to the funding system for care and support.  The Act is being introduced in two phases, with Social Care Reform taking effect 1 April 2015 followed by Funding Reform which will take effect 1 April, 2016.

'Care and support’ is the term we use to describe the help some adults need to live as well as possible with any illness or disability they may have. It can include help with things like washing, dressing, eating, getting out and about and keeping in touch with friends or family.
