Umbrella Hugs CIC - Nourishing our local roots
Umbrella Hugs is a newly formed Community Interest Company. We work with local communities in the Tees Valley area.
These are the types of workshops we offer:
- mindfulness: bringing awareness to how to deal with everyday issues that effect our mental well-being through a variety of workshops
- physical well-being: learning the importance of keeping the body healthy and the benefits this brings, including increasing mobility, helping to manage pain and general well-being, through yoga, dance and movement
- environment: encouraging people to have a better understanding of the local environment and take ownership for it. This can be empowering to understand the little differences you can make and can have a two fold effect on both the mental well-being of the individual and the local environment.
- local history: making our communities aware of the rich and diverse heritage of the town can be rewarding on many levels. Encouraging them to be proud of the area, stay in the area after moving on from education, aspire to achieve more, and be champions for the area.
Our aim is to engage with all elements of the local community, using practical skills to provide a range of activities where they will gain knowledge around:
- physical and mental well-being
- the environment both, local and wider surrounding areas
- local history
