Nepacs - Prison Visitors' Centres - North East
Nepacs and its forerunners have been working in the north east of England to support a positive future for prisoners and their families for over 144 years.
During this time, the structure of the organisation and the activities we undertake have changed, but our commitment to helping people affected by imprisonment remains constant.
Nepacs visitor centres
Nepacs visitor's centres offer shelter for families who may travel hundreds of miles to visit a relative in prison. Nepacs visitors' centres have tea bars, play areas for children and a friendly team to help to answer any questions or concerns that visitors may have about visiting prison or about their loved one in prison.
Nepacs visitor's centre staff and volunteers are on hand to provide written or face to face information or advice on visiting procedures in the individual prison, along with accurate and up to date information on booking visits and any additional support available.
Nepacs recognise the importance of nurturing family ties in the rehabilitation and resettlement of prisoners, and strive to continually improve the visiting experience for everyone coming to a north east prison.

We can offer information and support to individuals, their families and loved ones at the point of arrest, at court, throughout a prison sentence, and on release.
Our friendly team of helpline volunteers are available to offer a listening ear to those who need someone to talk to, and will provide important information about processes and next steps.
