Stockton, Thornaby and District Scouts
Fun, Challenge, Adventure and Skills for Life, this is what Scouting is all about.
In Stockton, Thornaby and District we support over 600 young people and over 200 adult volunteers to experience this adventure. We have nine Scout Groups, three Explorer Scout Units, a Scout Network and a Scout Active Support Unit (known as Stockton, Thornaby and District Scout Communications Team) all across Stockton, Thornaby and in the surrounding areas. We are also lucky to have our own thriving campsite, Pybus Scout Campsite.
Each week we give our young people the chance to enjoy fun, challenge and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed now and into the future. Scouting builds leadership, teamwork, resilience, independence and problem solving skills all alongside all manner of practical skills.
Whether you're a fun loving adventurer or someone who is more comfortable in the office there are loads of different ways you can get involved in Scouting:
- as a leader - helping to deliver activities for the young people in our groups, developing your own skills whilst nurturing theirs
- as a trustee - working behind the scenes to ensure that our groups are safe, well managed and have the resources to succeed
- with maintenance work - helping to maintain our campsite or group premises
- as part of our event support team - providing communications, logistics and event support to all sorts of Scouting and non-Scouting events including some of the biggest of their type in Europe
- as an ad-hoc helper - providing ad-hoc help at fundraising events, group meetings
We work with a flexible volunteering model and value any time you can give.
