Peer Talk
If you are over 18 years old, experiencing depression, anxiety or similar distress, Peer Talk mental health support groups are here for you. No referral is needed and there are no waiting lists.
Peer Talk is a regional mental health charity-we are moving to a new venue at Thornaby Community Fire Station in April.
We will meet weekly every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8pm.
Peer Talk is looking for compassionate Volunteer Facilitators to help lead their support meetings.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of others by fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- facilitate weekly 90-minute peer support meetings in Thornaby
- work in pairs to guide discussions and ensure a welcoming atmosphere
- commit to attending 4 or 5 meetings every three months
- actively listen, provide encouragement, and signpost to further support where needed
What We Are Looking For:
- strong listening and communication skills
- empathy, reliability, and a non-judgmental attitude
- a commitment to creating a safe space for open conversations No counselling experience is required—volunteers are active listeners, not therapists!
