Nurturing Nook Childminding

Hello, my name is Sophie Gill, and I am passionate about nurturing young minds and inspiring a love of learning in the early years. I graduated from Teesside University in 2019 with a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, gaining experience in a day nursery and as an EYFS Teaching Assistant. I then completed a PGCE with QTS in Primary Education (ages 3-7) at Sheffield Hallam University and Stockton-on-Tees Teacher Training Partnership, with placements across EYFS and Year 2. After qualifying in 2023, I spent two years as a Primary School Teacher, a role I thoroughly enjoyed. I have always dreamed of becoming a Childminder to offer more personalised early years care and education. I am Ofsted registered, Paediatric First Aid trained, hold a DBS on the update service, and complete regular safeguarding training. I look forward to creating a nurturing, engaging, and joyful environment where children can thrive and develop a lifelong love of learning.

    Inclusion information

    Cultural provisions:

At Nurturing Nook, I celebrate diversity by introducing children to a wide range of cultural traditions, stories, and festivals through books, music, crafts, and food experiences. I also work closely with families to respect and reflect their individual religious or cultural practices, ensuring every child feels valued and included.

    Dietary needs:

At Nurturing Nook, I carefully follow children's individual dietary needs, including allergies, intolerances, and family preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, kosher, or halal. I work in partnership with parents to create safe, nutritious meal plans and ensure food is always prepared and served with care, so every child feels included at mealtimes.

    SEND provisions:

At Nurturing Nook, I am committed to providing an inclusive environment where every child can thrive. I adapt activities and learning opportunities to meet individual needs, use a child-centred approach to support development, and work closely with parents and external professionals when needed. My goal is to ensure children with SEND feel supported, valued, and able to make progress at their own pace.
