Teesside Lupus Support Group
Teesside Lupus Support Group raises awareness of lupus and other chronic illnesses that come with it. We aim to empower lives by creating a safe space for members to share experiences with Lupus and other chronic diseases that come with it such as Arthritis, Celiac, Anaemia, Fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, kidney failure chronic cough etc, build friendships, and combat isolation.
Many people are still unfamiliar with Lupus, leading to delayed diagnosis and inadequate support for patients. The project raises awareness about lupus symptoms, risk factors, pain management, treatments and available resources. Beneficials of this project are mostly people of ethnic minorities, who have been diagnosed with Lupus or have autoimmune diseases and need support, information and some place to go and meet other people. By educating people on healthy eating and exercise we help to reduce the demand on public services. Whilst doing this project we are also going to support people through holistic support by providing emotional support, counselling, practical assistance to enhance their well-being and provide opportunities to connect with others. It creates networks and connections which benefit the participants and their family members, friends and partners.
